On Thursday, the Class of 2027 and 14 staff members traveled to Mount Agamenticus in York, Maine. They all participated in a no-phone hike of 1 - 3 miles in very warm weather, culminating with a class community-building event facilitated by Jim Laselva and Matt Gauron. Everyone then had the chance to cool off at Short Sands Beach for lunch! This is now the third time the High School has run this trip, and each time they are amazed at how the students and staff come together to strengthen community bonds. On trail, with no phones, students were chatting, taking pictures of rarely seen flowers, huge ant hills, big snakes, and amazing views with real cameras.
On Wednesday, June 4th, the High School hosted the annual Underclassmen Awards. The awards recognize students in grades 9 -11 for their academic achievement and initiative in World Language, English, Fine Arts, Science & Engineering, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Wellness. Read more about the awards and recipients HERE.
In addition to the academic awards, Juniors were also presented with Book Awards and Special Honors. Congratulations to all of our students for their academic success and initiative. All of the recipients are listed HERE.
Our HWRHS Class of 2025 came together to lend a hand to senior citizens in our community—this is a long-standing tradition in Hamilton-Wenham, proving that leadership, kindness, and service never go out of style. Thank you to the Class of 2025 for giving back. #hwcommunity
A Forensic Interviewer and the Assistant District Attorney spoke with our students about their work with the Middlesex Children's Advocacy Center last week. They each play a different role advocating for abused and neglected children. Both roles require a deep understanding of both social work and law. They have made a tremendous impact, giving a voice to children who might not otherwise be heard - highlighting a challenging yet rewarding career path.
